The BEST Healthy Banana Bread

When I first started baking and was looking for recipe inspiration, banana bread was the first and easiest thing that came to mind. Over the years I have tried SO MANY different recipes using all different kinds of flours and sweeteners, but let me tell you...this one takes the cake!

It is moist, packed with chunks of banana and chocolate chips and has always been a fan favourite in my house. You know you've done well when your fiancé begs you to make this on a weekly basis! Give it a try and let me know what you think of this healthy banana loaf!


You'll need these ingredients:

•1/3 cup melted coconut oil or extra-virgin olive oil • 1/2 cup honey • 2 eggs (or flax eggs) • 2.5 large ripe bananas (mashed) • 1/4 milk (of choice) or water • 1 tsp baking soda • 1 tsp vanilla extract • 1/2 tsp salt • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (plus more to sprinkle on top) • 1 3/4 cups whole wheat flour • Optional: 1/2 cup mix-ins such as chocolate chips, raisins or nuts Follow these instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F and grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan. 2. Whisk the oil and honey together and then add the eggs, mashed bananas and milk. Mix until combined. 3. Add the baking soda, vanilla, salt and cinnamon and whisk together. 4. Using a large spoon, stir in flour until combined. Now’s the time to add in your mix-ins (I used semi-sweet chocolate chips in this batch). 5. Pour batter into greased pan and sprinkle with cinnamon. Add some more mix-ins on top for a pretty finish. 6. Bake for 55-60 minutes and then test with a sharp knife to ensure it comes out clean before removing from oven to cool. Let banana bread cool for 15 minutes on counter before removing from pan to slice. ⠀⠀ This banana bread is an awesome snack to slice up, individually wrap and store in the freezer. You can thaw it on the counter or throw it in the microwave for a minute to heat up.
